Machine Gun Kelly pulls out of Reading and Leeds Festival 2021 as Blossoms announced as replacement

Just as live music was getting back on track, Covid restrictions had other ideas

Machine Gun Kelly is no longer performing at Reading and Leeds Festival 2021.

The rapper, 31, was due to perform at the festival next weekend, but bosses confirmed he will not be taking to the stage.

’Due to restrictions and logistics, Machine Gun Kelly is no longer able to perform at #RandL21,’ they said in a statement.

‘Keep an eye on our website for news of a replacement and other artist announcements!’

The announcement comes after the Bloody Valentine hitmaker pulled out of ALT+LDN festival in Clapham for similar reasons, which takes place the day after Reading & Leeds ends.

ALT+LDN organisers shared that, despite their ‘relentless efforts,’ Covid restrictions mean not all international artists booked to perform can make the event, including the US star.

The updated line-up for Reading & Leeds Fesitval

English indie pop band Blossoms will replace the star, and said they are ‘very excited’ to take to the Main Stage West at both Leeds and Reading venues.

Earlier this month, organisers confirmed other acts have cancelled their performances due to ‘restrictions and logistics.’

It was announced in July that Biffy Clyro will now headline the event, replacing Queens Of The Stone Age who are no longer able to play.

Other acts sadly no longer to make it include Maddison Beer, Madison Beer, Denzel Curry, Sofi Tukker, Super Whatevr, Wallows, Oliver Tree, Tate McRae, MizorMac, and Nation Of Language.

However, the new line-up still looks exciting, thanks to new additions such as Mimi Webb, Dinosaur Pile-Up, Will Joseph Cook, Blondes, Loathe, Holding Absence, Dea Matrona, Police Car Collective, Mega, Fur and Andrew Cushin.
