Corey Taylor’s wife has shared a positive update on the star’s battle with coronavirus, revealing he is doing well.

Alicia Taylor took to Twitter to reassure fans that the Slipknot frontman, 47, is improving after catching a breakthrough case of coronavirus despite being vaccinated.

She tweeted: ‘Wanted to give you guys an update: Corey is doing well and thanks everyone for the sweet thoughts and messages. Ready to get him home as soon as it’s safe, so I can take care of him!

‘He (very luckily) hasn’t lost his sense of taste or smell so I send him stupid amounts of snacks, hydration powders, and yummy desserts.’

Corey had revealed over the weekend that he had become ‘very, very sick’ with coronavirus despite having been vaccinated.

The coronavirus vaccine works to prevent serious illness and death but there is still a possibility of contracting the virus or spreading it despite being vaccinated.

He told fans in a Facebook video: ‘I hope everybody’s well, I wish I had better news. I woke up today and tested positive, and I’m very, very sick.

‘I am absolutely devastated, I am so sorry. I hope everyone has a good time, and I promise you I will absolutely try to get back out there as soon as I can.’

He continued: ‘I should be okay — it’s just the flu. I’m vaccinated so I’m not worried, but I certainly would not want to spread it to anyone else, so, everybody be safe out there. I will see you again, promise.’

Corey’s diagnosis came as he was nearing the end of his solo tour but had to pull out of some dates after testing positive.

He had previously shared his thoughts on the importance of the coronavirus vaccine, saying in an interview with Heavy Consequence: ‘Here’s the thing: there shouldn’t be a mandate [to be vaccinated to attend a concert], but guess what, man, if you’re going to put people at risk of getting sick, you shouldn’t want to go to a show.

‘That’s common sense. And if you do put people at risk, then you’re a f**kin’ a**hole. And you shouldn’t be let in anyway.

‘So, for me, it’s a common sense thing, but we don’t have a lot of common sense these days, man.’
