Brad Keselowski or Austin Dillon: Who Was to Blame for the Frightening Crash at Michigan?

At the Michigan International Speedway, Brad Keselowski and Austin Dillon got caught in a nasty accident. While running side-by-side, they touched and Dillon got the worst of the accident. The impact was so bad that the #3 Richard Childress Racing car nearly went airborne.

In light of this incident, a few NASCAR analysts dissected the incident. Without a doubt, Austin Dillon had a very quick car and seemed primed for a good finish. Unfortunately, at the end of Stage 2, he and Keselowski collided, and that drew the curtains on his race. For his part, the Team Penske driver did the noble thing and took the blame for the incident.

Meanwhile, Dillon admitted that Keselowski should have given him some more space. In a way, he has a point, because the Penske driver squeezed the Richard Childress Racing driver right onto the apron. Since they were racing for points on the final lap of the stage, desperation must have set in.

Admittedly, this is not the first time Keselowski has been the cause of an incident. However, he was humble enough to apologize and acknowledge that he was clearly at fault. It could have been very easy to try and deflect the blame onto Dillon or chalk it up as a racing incident, but he shouldered the blame.

Meanwhile, Austin Dillon initially came on the radio to apologise as well. For his part, he knew that Brad Keselowski was right there on the race track. Despite that, he still tried to swipe across to cut him off, and he paid for it dearly. All said and done, some believe that both drivers were at fault for the accident and they would have wanted to avoid it.

Now all they can do is sit and rue what could have been. Beyond that, they have to now move on and focus on the final regular season race at Daytona before the Playoffs.
