Piers Morgan chuffed as Sir Michael Parkinson admits he ‘misses’ former Good Morning Britain host on TV
Piers Morgan chuffed with Michael Parkinson’s support
Piers Morgan has been off the air for five months now since he stormed off the Good Morning Britain set last March.
Now, as he prepares to make his big comeback to TV, Piers has thanked broadcasting legend, Sir Michael Parkinson, for his support.
Speaking to Radio Times, Parky – who interviewed some of the biggest names in entertainment, sport and current affairs on his self-titled chat show, which ran for over 30 series – talked about his liking for Morgan’s interview style.
‘I enjoy a lot of the stuff that he does because I do think we need a voice like that,’ said the 86-year-old.
‘I miss him on television,’ he added.
The former GMB host later tweeted: ‘Thanks for the support, Parky!’

Similarly to Piers, the chat show legend often made headlines for his unapologetic ways with his interviewees.
In the reappraisal of his huge catalogue of high-profile interviews, Parky has received criticism for his tolerance of comedian Bernard Manning’s racial jokes in the 1970s.
Among other similar instances, he also made comments now viewed as sexist about actress Dame Helen Mirren, questioning whether her ‘equipment’, i.e. her chest, would prevent her from having a serious career.
Most famously, the presenter had an awkward interview with actress Meg Ryan, in which he became impatient with her one-word answers and lost his temper.
He’s now said his intentions were always to make his guests feel comfortable and admitted that he regrets on-air lapses.

Morgan, on the other hand, has not apologised for the comments he made on GMB, dismissing Meghan Markle’s mental health battle, which sparked his infamous fall-out with co-star Alex Beresford. Hours after the clash, he quit GMB
The controversial presenter has since added that he ‘didn’t actually want to leave’ the ITV morning show but he has no plan on returning.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
