Busta Rhymes has made his feelings known about the mandate to wear a mask in the USA, slamming the restrictions despite the surge in coronavirus cases.

The rapper, 49, went on an anti-mask rant on stage at the Seoul Taco’s 10th anniversary block party in Missouri, where he had been performing as a surprise headliner.

In a break in his set, he told the crowd: ‘This is my second show in front of human life in the last 15 f**king months.

‘Covid can suck a d**k. All these little weird-a** government policies and mandates, suck a d**k.’

Despite masks and social distancing being proven to help slow down the spread of infection, Busta – whose real name is Trevor Tahiem Smith Jr. claimed the mandates were being used to ‘take our civil liberties away’.

He continued: ‘It’s called the God-given right of freedom, right? No human being is supposed to tell you that you can’t even breathe freely.

‘F**k your mask. Some of y’all might feel differently, but f**k your mask. I can’t rhyme to you with a mask on.

‘We can’t eat food with a f**king mask on. We can’t even see each other smile with a mask on.’

It’s more disappointing that a lot of people will take their medical advice from him (former rapper) over their current doctor

Ignorant fool…it’s not about freedom. It’s about coming together to beat a common enemy…it’s about caring for others and not just ourselves…and taking care of those who can’t protect themselves…being decent human beings… What has happened to us?

Ah yes, noted Epidemiologist, Dr. Busta Rhymes. Clearly you set too high a standard for him. I love how the more he talks the less people cheer.

This is so disappointing… act like you understand the precision with which karma been knocking y’all anti-vax and covid down players off! Mask up and wise up @BustaRhymes

Busta added that wearing a mask stops it being as easy to pick up on people’s ‘energy’ or to flirt with others.

Fans were left divided by his rant, with many slamming him for his irresponsible messaging as cases of the Delta variant spread in the US.

They tweeted: ‘Bruh, masks aren’t meant to keep you from breathing freely. They’re meant to keep you safe from NOT breathing permanently. This man thinking backwards.’

Another added: ‘Now I’m not gone lie I hate wearing it but it is definitely necessary and I do wear it!!!!! This is very ignorant to say smh especially because like they said he has friends who have suffered from it that’s like a slap in their face.’

Others wrote: ‘I wonder if they ever think about the civil liberties of people they infect and cause to go to the hospital or is it THEIR civil liberties that matter’ and ‘Good thing I don’t go see Busta Rhymes when I’m sick just like I don’t go to the Drs office when I want to hear a good rap song.’
