Tennis entertainment continues as the focus shifts to the last ATP men’s event, ahead of the US Open. Progressing into its second round, the Winston-Salem Open was already grabbing headlines for all the right reasons. On a quest for his dream return, former World No. 1 Andy Murray took on youngster Frances Tiafoe. However, even before going to battle, Andy was busy tickling one too many funny bones on Twitter.

Andy Murray is a man on a mission, ever since his miraculous return. Notably, if off-court comedy is one of the things on his agenda, safe to say he’s acing that. Gearing up for his round to clash at the Winston-Salem Open 2021, fans caught Andy doing the unthinkable, serving ‘Dad jokes.’ Although in his defense, they were good.

Andy Murray returned to the sport earlier this year, following an unprecedented sabbatical. Ever since, he’s been at the heart of the action, trying to mark a successful comeback. However, taking a break from his usual serious self, Andy left fans in splits. In a newly emerged video, the 34-year-old turned his millennial self, serving dad jokes, despite admitting they were “not great jokes.”

The Winston-Salem Open presented server Andy, curing distressed fans miraculously, one bad dad joke at a time. Serving the first one hot, he read out, “I told my wife she drew on her eyes brows too high, she seemed surprised.”

Busting a laugh himself on this one, she chuckled and read, “When you have a bladder infection, ‘urine’ trouble.” Undoubtedly, fans were enjoying the cheeky bit from the British lad. However, it was soon time for battle, getting started on the actual mission he’s set out for.

No fairytale return for Andy Murray yet again?

Jokes aside, quite literally, Andy Murray’s quest for a fairytale return has been long but not noteworthy. Returning to the sport at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships, he won hearts solely with his appearance. However, even as he played some blissful tennis, it wasn’t enough to see through till the end.

Bowing out from one tournament and moving into another, his story at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics was no different. Murray battled past a career-threatening hip injury to make it back to the sport. However, a notable performance upon his second chance at life in tennis is yet to come.

As he geared up to take on Frances Tiafoe in the second round of the Winston-Salem Open, fans wondered if this was the moment they’ve been waiting for. However, falling victim to his second-round curse yet again, Andy Murray bowed out of the tournament, losing the match in straight sets. Disappointed, disgruntled, fans now wonder, is a fairytale return is on the cards at all? Or just glimmers of hope for nothing more to look forward to?
