Not3s was surprised to find he had an unlikely fan in Billie Eilish after she praised him as a ‘sweetheart’ and, not only are they now friends, but a collaboration could be on the way.

Their friendship blossomed after Billie, 19, revealed in an interview earlier this year that she was a fan of UK rap music and listed Addison Lee hitmaker Not3s as one of her favourite artists.

Recalling how they became pals, Not3s told Metro.co.uk to mark the release of his debut album 3 Th3 Album: ‘Big up Billie. She followed me a while ago when her name was Where Are The Avocados on Instagram randomly and I was thinking, who is this? What is going on here?

‘But then I started playing her music and clocked this is who she is. She’s amazing, her music is mesmerising in the way it can just put you in some kind of trance, it’s crazy.’

On the possibility of a collaboration, he added: ‘We hit each other up so hopefully something can happen, who knows? That might be the case.

‘Big up Billie Eilish, she’s a cool person. I like to make tracks where everything is in the moment… Hopefully there’s a time period where I’m over here or she’s over there. It’ll be sick, that’d be proper hard and different as well.’

It’s been three years in the making but Not3s has finally released his debut album, after enjoying success with the singles such as Addison Lee, My Lover featuring Mabel, Sit Back Down and Aladdin.

Sharing the inspiration behind the album title 3 Th3 Album, Not3s – real name Lukman Odunaike – explained: ‘It kind of plays on the words as the album’s being freed.

‘I feel like I needed to go through quite a lot in terms of my life experiences and how I wanted to make an album that I’d first make. I always wanted it to be timeless with the stories that are told within the album, and the way I decided to talk about everything I wanted to talk about.’

The 23-year-old continued: ‘Before when I made the album, in my head, there wasn’t much to it in terms of a body of work. I was just trying to put together singles and what people would like but not much thought behind it.

‘All the stuff that I’ve gone through in the past three years has been implemented into the album.’

‘Certain things have actually occurred off the fact I am what I am today in the sense of this artist that people see or look at or expect is deep. It’s not the same as before. It’s just finding a way to deal with it and coping with it,’ he added.

Not3s’ debut album, 3 Th3 Album, is out now.
