MUST SEE: Norris Lends a Huge Helping Hand to His McLaren F1 Teammate Ricciardo at Spa Practice

The track conditions at Spa-Francorchamps have proven to be quite tricky for the drivers. The weather presented challenges as, despite a dry FP1 and FP2, there were many wet patches on the track which caught drivers out. One such driver was McLaren driver Lando Norris.

Norris was going on his first run of the afternoon session when he locked his front tires on Turn 1. He braked a bit deeper and was caught out by a wet patch on the track. The lockup ruined his lap and forced him to visit the pit.

Lando Norris helps his teammate by passing on important information

After locking up his tires in Turn 1, Norris quickly went on his team radio to pass on some valuable information. He stated the team should inform Daniel Ricciardo that there are some wet patches on the track.

” You can tell Daniel it’s a little bit wet entry into Turn 1 braking and entry to Turn 5 braking. Everywhere else is okay,” said Norris to his race engineer.

This is not the first time that McLaren drivers have come to each others’ aid in the 2021 season. Ricciardo let through Norris in Imola when he got the message that the bit had more pace than him. Norris went onto finish P3 in the race.

The Aussie driver once again played the team gain in Paul Ricard when he was informed that Norris was on a faster strategy. Both drivers finished the race in Top-6 to help bring in good points for the team.

Despite the crashing Max Verstappen tops FP2 in Spa

The Red Bull driver set the pace for the grid in FP2 as he topped the session with a time of 1:44:472 in Spa. Verstappen was competitive for the whole session and traded times with both Mercedes drivers. But just before the end, he crashed into the barriers at Malmedy’s corner.

“I just lost the rear, bit too much oversteer to correct, and I hit the wall. Before that we were very happy, a very positive start,” said Verstappen.

Both Mercedes finished behind Verstappen, but it was Bottas who finished ahead of Lewis Hamilton. Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest for Alpine ahead of AlphaTauri‘s Pierre Gasly and Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll.

Can the drivers master the conditions at Spa? Let us know.
