Liberty Poole addressed rumours of a supposed ‘secret chat’ between herself and fellow Love Island contestant, Hugo Hammond in a Q&A with Instagram followers this weekend.

The ITV2 show crowned Liam Reardon and Millie Court the winners on Monday night, after beating Chloe Burrows and Toby Aromolaran to the title.

But fans of the show also became very attached to contestant Liberty and her friendship with Kaz Kamwi, despite the former’s relationship with Jake Cornish not working out.

Liberty, who decided to bow out alongside Jake just days before the final has now sat down with her Instagram followers, and spoke out on what really went down with Hugo.

‘This intimate chat,’ Liberty laughed, ‘It was just literally me and Hugo sat down like, “What do you do with yourself?” Blah blah blah.

‘It was very just friends, there was no sexual chemistry between us and I love Hugo as a mate but that’s all the chat was.’

She reaffirmed how she felt in the caption of the video, which read: ‘All love for Hugo but we are just friends [heart emoji].’

It came after Hugo recently shocked viewers by claiming chats with Liberty had gone unaired in order to ‘protect Jiberty.’

The star, who has been on a TikTok posting spree since exiting the villa, posted a video with the text: ‘When Lib pulls you for chats after Jakey wanted to get to know Millie but the show didn’t air it to protect “Jiberty” and now this happens.’

He wrote in the caption: ‘Imagine what could have been’.

Hugo said in the comments: ‘I don’t actually know why it never got aired. But this is my assumption.’

Jake and Liberty broke up just before the final four couples had to be decided, leaving abruptly together on good terms after their final date in the villa.

After her exit, Liberty explained how the clip she was shown during the infamous Love Island Movie Night really affected her relationship with Jake.

She said to The Sun: ‘The clips hurt me, what was said, and I sort of swept it under the carpet and didn’t address it properly and one thing led to another, where it just became a bigger issue.

‘And then we found out there were differences between us in how we see things and communicated about things. We just weren’t communicating in the same way we used to.’

During her Q&A, Liberty went on to address how she felt to see her pals Millie and Liam win the title earlier this week.

Responding to a fan asking about the outcome, she said: ‘All of the couples left in Love Island were so, so strong and they had their own different connections but they were all great together

‘I think Millie and Liam are honestly soul mates, being around them 24.7 they are made for each other.

‘So, I’m happy they won, but any of them [couples] were deserving to win.’
