Cobra Kai has officially been renewed for season 5 ahead of the release of its highly-anticipated fourth season on Netflix.

Earlier this year, a new trailer for Cobra Kai teased an epic return for the Karate Kid spin-off, as the students prepare for the fights of their lives at the All Valley Karate Tournament.

The new season will see the return of the villainous Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith), the founder of Cobra Kai and antagonist from The Karate Kid Part III.

Fortunately for fans, they have even more excitement down the line, following the announcement that a fifth season is also on the way.

In a post shared on social media, the Cobra Kai account tweeted the news, much to their viewers’ enormous delight.

‘The dojo is about to be 5x as rad. Cobra Kai has been renewed for a 5th season,’ the tweet said, alongside a fiery graphic image of the Roman numeral for five.

As can be expected, the dedicated Cobra Kai fandom was overjoyed.

‘Season 4 won’t be out until December this year and yet there’s already Season 5 to look ahead. Woot!’ one person tweeted.

‘I’m actually really glad this show is surviving for so long. I think it’s one of the best shows in recent years and Netflix acquiring it was such a great decision,’ someone else said.

Another fan said that the news was ‘so exciting’ because they’ve ‘loved every season of Cobra Kai so far’.

‘Netflix renewing Cobra Kai for a 5th season before even releasing season 4 is the level of self-confidence people needs,’ one fan remarked.

In the official synopsis for season four from Netflix, it hints at the massive stakes the Cobra Kai dojo is going to face when its pupils take part in the returning tournament.

‘Season 4 finds the Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang dojos joining forces to take down Cobra Kai at the All Valley Under 18 Karate Tournament… and whoever loses must hang up their gi,’ it states.

‘As Samantha and Miguel try to maintain the dojo alliance and Robby goes all in at Cobra Kai, the fate of the Valley has never been more precarious. What tricks does Kreese have up his sleeve? Can Daniel and Johnny bury their decades-long hatchet to defeat Kreese? Or will Cobra Kai become the face of karate in the valley?’

Cobra Kai is available to watch on Netflix.
