When Will Serena Williams Return After US Open 2021 Withdrawal?

American star Serena Williams has decided to skip the US Open this year. She is suffering from a torn hamstring, which has made her make the unfortunate decision. She has played less tennis this season as compared to the others.

Recently, Patrick Mouratoglou, who coaches Serena Williams put up a clip on social media of the 23-time Grand Slam champion back on the practice courts having a light knock. In the video, both were engaged in rallies and it was great to see the champion back on the courts. It is a good sign and she could have the Australian Open in her sights.

The 50-year-old coach posted this clip along with a caption that stated, “We’d like to fast-forward to being 100% healthy again, but recovery takes time. Getting there, one step at a time.” Patrick and Serena share one of the most successful partnerships in tennis. He has been in Serena’s camp for a long time and has been part of her last 10 Grand Slam victories.

Serena Williams took a break after Melbourne

Reflecting on her season, Serena began her season in Melbourne but lost in the semifinal to eventual champion Naomi Osaka. After that, she took a brief break from the Tour and made a return during the clay season in Rome.

However, she was unable to impress with her performances on the surface and, as a result, did not make it deep into the French Open. After that, prior to the Wimbledon Championships, Williams did not play any warm-up event.

Later at the All England Club, she suffered an opening-round exit as she ended up twisting her ankle during the first set of the match. Now after deciding to miss the US Open, we wish to see her compete on the main stage once again.
