Jordan Spieth Compares Bryson DeChambeau to Tiger Woods

Bryson DeChambeau was on the verge of creating history on Friday at the 2021 BMW Championship. However, he missed a short birdie putt on the final hole, or else he would have shot a 59. And this would have made him only the fifth player to go -13 in a single round in PGA Tour. Moreover, Jordan Spieth had the best seat in the house to witness this incredible performance.

This was Bryson’s best finish in a single round with eight birdies and two eagles. Moreover, Spieth, who isn’t in contention to win the BMW Championship, compared this exceptional round from Bryson with the Tiger of the 2000s.

Jordan Spieth, who shot 2-under 70 in round 2, was trailing his playing partner Bryson DeChambeau by more than 10 strokes. He said it’s hard playing with Bryson when one big part of his game is firing on all cylinders, which is his driving. And he couldn’t hold back from complimenting him and comparing his game to the GOAT.

“I played with Bryson the first two rounds when he won at Bay Hill, and when he’s driving it that straight, it’s got to be what it was like in the early 2000s with Tiger just hitting it the furthest and the straightest,” Spieth said.

Meanwhile, Bryson is averaging 341 yards with the driver through the first two rounds. But the thing where he struggles is the accuracy, and this time his driving accuracy has been 50%. But fortunately, DeChambeau was hitting greens in regulation more often than not. He has hit an 83.33% of greens in regulation so far, which is exceptional.

But Spieth pointed out that he has been putting brilliantly, a part of his game that is often overlooked. “You’ve still got to get it in the hole,” Spieth continued, “and [DeChambeau] just drove the ball well, made a few longer putts today, and had it going.”

And even the stats prove it. DeChambeau has +2.160 strokes gained putting this week so far. However, in the second round alone, he has +2.998 SG putting, which is impressive.
