It’s Painful- Actress Tiffany Haddish Reflects On Starring As FloJo In Biopic

Tiffany Haddish, the American actress, is going to star as FloJo, the legendary American track and field athlete in an upcoming biopic. In order to move forward with the biopic, the actress said that she has to go through a “painful transformation”.

Florence Delorez Griffith Joyner, also known as FloJo, was an American track and field athlete. She set two world records in the year 1988 in both sprinting events- 100 m and 200 m. Both her records remain untouched, however, the young Jamaican- Elaine Thompson-Herah recently ran with a timing of 10.53 seconds at the Diamond League. This was only 0.5 away from FloJo’s world record (10.49seconds) in a 100m race.

Unfortunately, the American sprinter announced her retirement in February 1989. A decade later, she passed away in her sleep due to an epileptic seizure supposed to be caused by an abnormality in the blood vessels in her brain. Indeed, it was one of the biggest losses in the history of American athletics. 

Haddish to star as FloJo in a biopic

Tiffany Sara Cornilia Haddish is an American actress, comedian, and author. She is all set to star as the American world record holder, FloJo in her next movie.

The 41-year-old actress shared her experience of putting effort into the movie by saying that, “I’m working on the FloJo project. Not only am I becoming FloJo and going through this transformation, I’m also producing on a project. Her story is amazing, her journey was amazing and what she’s done is awesome and hasn’t been touched for years until just recently. I’m just so excited about it and it’s painful, I’m not gonna lie. The transformation process is painful.” 

She also said that “I am looking forward to telling Flo-Jo’s story the way it should be told. My goal with this film is making sure that younger generations know my ‘she-ro’ Flo-Jo, the fastest woman in the world to this day, existed.”

Tiffany is surely set to give her best and share FloJo’s story the way it deserves to be told. Even though the journey of making this movie would be challenging, Tiffany appears to be passionate about it.
