“Old Head”- Olympic Star Grant Holloway Ribs USA 110m Hurdles Legend

The Olympic silver medalist, Grant Holloway pays his respect to American legend, Jason Richardson for completing 10 years since he became the World Champion for 110m hurdles.

Holloway is an American hurdler and sprinter. Furthermore, he is the reigning world champion in the 110 meters hurdles. Not only this, but he also set the world record in the indoor 60 m hurdles, an incredible timing of 7.29 seconds which he anchored on February 24, 2021. In addition to this, he is also the current second-fastest man in the 110 meters hurdles. While giving his Olympic trials in June 2020 he clocked a timing of  12.81 seconds to earn this title.

Recently, the American also secured the second position at the Summer Games in Tokyo, clocking 13.09 seconds which was only 0.5 off the champion, H. Parchment. Right after the race, the Americans seemed disappointed. Sharing his experience he said, “It sucks because of all the hard and dedication. But that’s part of athletics. That’s part of becoming a man. That’s part of figuring out everything. My hat goes off to Hansle Parchment because he ran a hell of a race.”

The Jamaican ran with a timing of 13.04 and again, took another gold at the Diamond League in Paris. Indeed, the American has a tough competitor to face in his upcoming tournaments.

Grant Holloway looks up to American legend

In one of his recent tweets, Holloway congratulated a fellow American hurdler- Jason Richardson. The American won a gold medal in the 110-meter hurdles at the 2011 World Championships in Daegu. He also won a silver medal in the same event at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

Other than being a fellow American, Richardson and Holloway share another similarity. Just like Grant, Jason too, gave his personal best when he was giving his Olympic trials in the month of June, back in 2012. Celebrating Richardson’s victory, Grant paid a tribute to his fellow American and said, “I was in the 7th grade when this happened. Congrats, you are officially an old head.”

Both the Americans have indeed performed remarkably at the international stage. The 23-year-old, Holloway is aiming to go bigger and better in his coming races. Let’s see what he has to offer in his next tournament.
