BREAKING: Amanda Nunes Gets a Return Date- Will Defend Her Title at UFC 269

Amanda Nunes is the only person in the history of the promotion to hold and defend two belts simultaneously. This means that ‘The Lioness’ has to face the best fighters in not one but two divisions every time she steps into a UFC octagon. This time around, Nunes is defending her bantamweight title against a challenger who has been desperate to face her.

Following her win over Sara McMann, Pena incessantly called out ‘The Lioness’ stating that she was scared. Pena was also extremely critical of the fact that Nunes has not defended her bantamweight belt since December 2019.

A fight between Pena and Nunes was initially scheduled for UFC 265 in August. However, a positive COVID test ruled Nunes out of the fight. The fight between the two women has now been rescheduled for UFC 269 set to take palace on December 11th. The venue for the same is not known at this point in time.

Amanda Nunes vs Julianna Pena- a preview

Nunes is currently on a 12-fight win streak. The win streak includes capturing belts in two divisions and multiple defenses of both belts. ‘The Lioness’ has defended her bantamweight belt an impressive five times.

Her most recent defense of the bantamweight belt was against Germaine de Randamie at UFC 245 in December 2019. Since then Nunes has fought twice and has defended her featherweight title both times. ‘The Lioness’ is in red-hot form going into the fight and has secured three of her last five wins via stoppage.

Julianna Pena on the other hand, is 3-2 in her last five fights. ‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ succumbed to a loss against Germaine de Randamie in October 2020. She then bounced back with an impressive third-round submission win over Sara McMann. Pena has never been in a position to challenge for the title prior to this. Therefore, it will be interesting to see how Pena performs on the biggest stage. She is extremely confident that she can get the job done against a fighter who has not been for over seven years now.
