Latest Injury Update on David Bakhtiari a Big Blow for Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers have hit yet another road block as they prepare for the 2021 NFL season. With the whole Aaron Rodgers trade saga dominating headlines through the offseason, the Packers now have to deal with a key absentee.

Packers‘ All Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari has been rule out not just for Week One but more. Bakhtiari tore his ACL back in December last season. Since returning to camp, he was placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.

But now recent reports suggest that the anchor of the Packers O-line will be missing for a longer extended period.

Green Bay Packers dealt heavy blow

As per NFL insider Ian Rapoport’s tweet, Bakhtiari will remain on the physically unable to perform list till alteast six more weeks. This means that Bakhtiari though won’t be counted on the Packers’ 53-man roster.

Bakhtiari’s absence will see the franchise without his services for big games against the Chicago Bears, Saints and 49ers to names a few.  He was unable to take a physical which would put him on injured reserve, and thus will now be on reserve PUP list.

The #Packers are keeping All-Pro LT David Bakhtiari (knee) on the PUP list into the season, source said, meaning he’ll miss the first six weeks. Tough blow for Green Bay, but this will allow perhaps the game’s best LT the chance to fully heal.

Without Bakhtiari, the Green Bay Packers faltered big time in the NFC title game last season. While the exact period of Bakhtiari’s absence is not known, Packers fans will hope the sooner the better.

Missing almost the entire first half of the season could see the Packers drop some games which could impact their playoff seeding.
