Loose Women star Coleen Nolan appeared to take a bit of a dig at her ex-husbands Shane Richie and Ray Fensome on the show.

The panel chatted away about the use of the word ‘single mum’, discussing whether it is a derogatory term.

Linda Robson, Brenda Edwards and Kaye Adams agreed with Coleen that being a single mum is something to be applauded.

Coleen, who is a single mum, then went on to quip: ‘When I was married, I thought I was a single mum, because he didn’t do anything.

‘I used to go and tell everyone I was a single mum. They go, “Who’s he” and I’d go, “Oh he lives there but…”‘

The 56-year-old married EastEnders star Shane in 1990, before the pair split in 1999. They share their sons Shane and Jake.

She went on to tie the knot with guitarist Ray in 2007, with the pair divorcing in 2018. The former couple share their daughter Ciara.

Coleen recently referenced her split from Shane on the show, saying it happened around the time her father died.

The entertainer’s dad Tommy died in 1998, and she split from ex-husband Shane in 1999.

On Tuesday’s Loose Women the panelists – Coleen, Kaye, Judi Love and Janet Street Porter – were asked by viewers if it is possible to overcome grief after a parent’s death.

The panel, who have all lost parents, agreed that you learn to live with the grief rather than get over it completely.

Coleen, whose mum Maureen died in 2008 after a battle with Alzheimer’s, recalled the difficult period she had around the time Tommy died.

She said: ‘The thing I remember about my mum and dad, even though they were very ill later on in life, and they were quite old so it was kind of, this is life and death and this is what happens.

‘I was going through a break up with Shane at the time, so my emotions when my dad died – it was right in the middle of all of that – so my emotions were focused on that.

‘Then I had guilt because I felt I was crying about my marriage more than I was crying about my dad dying.

‘I saw a therapist and she was like, “That’s absolutely normal because one’s gone that you can’t see and you’re grieving for something you can see. That’s how your brain deals with it.”‘

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.
