Another one bites the dust on The Talk as Elaine Welteroth becomes the latest star to leave the CBS daytime talk show after less than one year on air.

The journalist is the most recent presenter to leave the series, following the likes of Carrie Ann Inaba, who departed last month to ‘focus on her wellbeing’.

After guest-hosting multiple episodes last year, Elaine officially joined the programme as a full-time panellist on January 4, 2021, but she is now turning her attention to her ‘upcoming creative projects’.

According to reports, The Talk is searching for new hosts, with hopes that there will be at least one permanent star.

‘We wish Elaine all the best,’ The Talk executive produces Heather Gray and Kristin Matthews said in a statement.

‘We are grateful for her passion, enthusiasm, and insight she brought to the show daily.’

They continued to Deadline: ‘Her openness and meaningful conversations were attributes we admired and always appreciated.’

‘It is an absolute honour for anyone, but especially a young Black woman, to occupy space on-air where our perspectives are largely underrepresented,’ Elaine told the publication.

‘It was gratifying to be able to show up as my authentic self in front of a live national audience every day in a world as divided as ours and to stay true to myself and what I stand for.

‘I came to The Talk to break out of my own echo chamber and to join a diverse cast in helping to bridge some of the divides in our world through conversation and empathy.’

She added: ‘I’m proud of how I represented myself and my community. But as I always say: when the music changes, so must your dance! I will miss my talented co-hosts and crew and I wish them the very best.

‘Thanks to all those who tuned in every day.  I’m excited to continue these necessary conversations in my work and to share my upcoming creative projects soon.’

Sharon Osbourne also left The Talk in March following a heated on-air row with Sheryl Underwood.

She was defending Piers Morgan from allegations of racism after he said he did not believe what the Duchess of Sussex told Oprah Winfrey in their bombshell interview.
