Azaylia Cain’s parents have revisited the hospital which treated her during her battle with leukaemia to donate £20,000 in her honour.

Ashley Cain and Safiyya Vorajee shared photos of them handing over a large cheque to staff outside the Birmingham Women’s and Children’s hospital on behalf of their new charity, The Azaylia Foundation.

They wrote on social media: ‘We are really excited to share this with everyone. On Tuesday’s launch, @miss_safiyya_ and @mrashleycain visited Birmingham Children’s Hospital to gift them with a £20,000 cheque.

‘It was the first time the couple had been back to the hospital since Azaylia passed so it was a very emotional day for all.’

They added: ‘Birmingham Children’s Hospital was a second home to Azaylia; the treatment, love and care received from the NHS staff was exceptional and this is why it was so important for the foundation to give back.

‘This is just the start of donations from The Azaylia Foundation, we have pledged to be on the ground, raising even more funds to help give back to children fighting cancer and those that help them.

‘We will harness the incredible community support to change lives, bring smiles to the darkest corners and be there for the little lions who battle every day.’

Azaylia had died at the age of eight months after battling a rare and aggressive form of leukaemia from when she was just weeks old.

Ashley and Safiyya had raised £1.5million to take her to Singapore for specialist treatment, but Azaylia’s condition worsened before they could take the trip.

The couple have now vowed to continue fundraising to help other children going through similar situations as well as their families.

Appearing on Loose Women, Safiyya explained: ‘I really want to bring so much education to Azaylia’s Foundation.

‘I feel like parents and guardians really need to be aware of the signs and the symptoms and I really want to bring such beautiful, magical moments to children that are in such dark places.

‘I want to spread so much beautiful, magical light, bring smiles to their faces, the same as we did with Azaylia every single day.’

Ashley added: ‘We want to use the rest of our lives to make a difference in this world to help these children so that we can ease the burden a little bit of parents that might have to go through this as well.’
