Cristiano Ronaldo jersey sales breaks records

Ronaldo’s transfer confirmation to United certainly sent the footballing world to frenzy. While his squad number was undecided, fans rooted for the return of Ronaldo donning the number 7 jersey. They certainly got their wish as Edinson Cavani gave up the number 7 jersey for Ronaldo.

Just as soon as United revealed Ronaldo’s number, the jersey sale opened up for the public. Given CR7’s immense popularity, the Cristiano jerseys were all the frenzy and within minutes there was a lack of supply in some stores as well.

In the first 12 hours itself, United sold Ronaldo jerseys worth £32.5 million. Priced from £80 to £110, United sold some 295,000- 406,250 shirts to make up the £32.5 million. This is certainly a staggering number of jerseys that the club sold in such a short period of time.

Within these 12 hours, Ronaldo’s insane jersey sales have already topped other Premier League big signings like Jack Grealish. It is now the most sold jersey of the ongoing 2021-22 season.

Expectations are certainly sky high from the Portuguese this season. The 36-year-old has been an incredible marksman for a decade now and despite a slight decrease in his pace, CR7 is still at the top of his game. Finishing as the top goalscorer in Serie A last season, the former Real forward guarantees atleast 30-40 goals per season.

With world class creators like Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba at their disposal, there will be a flurry of chances for the 5-time Ballon D’or winner. United certainly have a talented set of players now. With the additions of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane alongside Ronaldo, the ‘Red Devils’ have a balanced side now. Can Ronaldo help Manchester United help win the Premier League after eight long years?
