Five people left in hospital after brutal mass assault in Cardiff

FIVE people were rushed to hospital after a reported brutal mass assault in Cardiff this afternoon.

One of the city’s busiest roads was cordoned off and members of the public told to stay away following the incident at around 2.45pm.

Five victims suffered superficial injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.

Two are believed to have been discharged after several hours, while the others continue to be cared for by doctors.

Several eyewitnesses said there was huge numbers of emergency vehicles on the scene on City Road.

A South Wales Police spokesperson said: “There is quite a large police presence in the area and members of the public are advised to stay away while it is being dealt with.”

Officers are now appealing for information, or anyone with mobile phone or dashcam footage to come forward, quoting reference 2100312749.
