Kathy Griffin has given a health update after undergoing surgery following her lung cancer diagnosis.

The star had part of her lung removed and told fans she will have treatment for a paralysed vocal chord.

Kathy, 60, revealed doctors had told her her recovery is ‘taking longer than expected’ so will need more time before she gets back on her feet.

Ever the comedian, she joked about having a new drag name based on the procedure.

She said in a video shared on Twitter on Sunday: ‘Hi guys, I’m just calling to give you a health update.

‘I had half my lung removed because I had lung cancer. Oh by way, I think my drag name should now be Diva Half-A-Lung-Goria, because I wanna get back to the drag circuit.’

She continued: ‘Anyway my voice hasn’t come back yet as you can tell and it’s been a month, but I’m supposed to go get a collagen shot in my vocal chord you guys, because one of my vocal chords paralysed.

‘Also my recovery is taking longer than they thought but this what I love.

‘I love when they’re like, “No normally people are up and ballroom dancing by now but you know there’s always that 3% that take longer, I guess you’re in the lower 3% aisle” which could be my new D-list show, Kathy Griffin: The Lower 3%.’

The controversial actress revealed her lung cancer diagnosis in early August just before she went into surgery, saying she ‘should be up and running around as usual in a month or less’.

She added that ‘doctors are very optimistic as it is stage one and contained to my left lung.’

She also said she has been vaccinated against coronavirus and ‘the consequences for being unvaccinated would have been even more serious’.

‘Please stay up to date on your medical check-ups. It’ll save your life,’ Kathy said.

The star was met with an outpouring of support from her famous friends including Amy Schumer, Lisa Kudrow and Laverne Cox.
