Sarah Harding death: Nadine Coyle ‘absolutely devastated’ as she pays tribute to Girls Aloud bandmate

Nadine Coyle has paid tribute to her Girls Aloud bandmate Sarah Harding following the news of her death at the age of 39, saying she feels ‘absolutely devastated’.

In a statement shared by Sarah’s mum on Sunday, she confirmed that the singer died this morning after suffering from breast cancer.

In her statement, Sarah’s mother, Marie, wrote: ‘I know she won’t want to be remembered for her fight against this terrible disease – she was a bright shining star and I hope that’s how she can be remembered instead.’

Tributes have come pouring in for Sarah from fans and fellow stars, with Nadine, who competed on Popstars: The Rivals with Sarah when Girls Aloud was formed, sharing a statement on Instagram.

Sharing a picture of Sarah beaming with happiness, Nadine wrote in her caption: ‘I am absolutely devastated!! I can’t think of words that could possibly express how I feel about this girl & what she means to me!!

‘I know so many of you will be feeling this way. For now I’m sending so much love to you!!!’

Several of Nadine’s Instagram followers sent her their condolences over her loss.

‘Thinking of you and all of Sarah’s family and friends. Me & Katie sending you all our love xxxxx,’ commented radio presenter Adele Roberts.

‘Can’t imagine how you must be feeling Nadine. Sending all my love & thoughts your way,’ one fan said.

‘Sending you so much love Nadine,’ another wrote.

Celebrities including Louis Walsh, Fearne Cotton, Davina McCall and Martin Kemp have paid tribute to Sarah on social media.

In August last year, the singer shared an update with fans on her health, revealing that the cancer had advanced to other parts of her body.

Sharing a selfie that she took from her hospital bed on Twitter, the pop star said that she had been diagnosed with the disease earlier this year.
