Animal Crossing: New Horizons to have its own online exhibition

The National Videogame Museum located in Sheffield, UK holds some of the biggest attractions to celebrate the long history of gaming. From iconic video game titles to consoles long forgotten, the place has it all, and it seems like it’s adding in more for fans to pay a visit with contents from the world’s most popular game of the past two years in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

The online exhibition titled Animal Crossing Diaries showcases the experiences of players during the pandemic. The game arrived on Nintendo Switch at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic with lockdown restrictions happening all around the world. The game has since then become the definitive title of one of the worst stretches for humans in the 21st century.

What to expect from this Online Museum?

Animal Crossing: New Horizons became a massive human hub as the outside world came to a standstill. While people struggled to go outside, players socialized with others by visiting each other’s Islands for trading items. The online exhibition showcases how the community interacted with the game as times became tough because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It does that by showcasing diary entries, artwork and many other posts submitted by the game’s community. Fans can increase the collection’s size by sending in their own stories now as well.

The pandemic has caused a lot of troubles and headaches for people around the world. However, for a small time, Nintendo Switch players teleported themselves into their Islands to forget about everything, and the exhibition does justice to those experiences that many have had these past 18 months.
