Minecraft on Nintendo Switch is UK number one – Games charts 4 September

A quiet week for new releases has seen Minecraft float to the top of the UK weekly sales charts, as Mario Kart provides a Switch one-two.

You don’t normally expect many new releases at this time of the year and last week was one of 2021’s quietest so far, with nothing but new stock of the PlayStation 5 to stimulate movement in the top 10.

The PlayStation 5 version of The Medium helped the game rise back up to number 36, but the only entirely new entry was WRC 10 FIA World Rally Championship at number 40.

As is so typical of the games industry the release dates go from one extreme to the other this week, with a host of notable releases including Sonic Colours Ultimate, Life Is Strange: True Colors, Tales Of Arise, WarioWare: Get It Together!, and NBA 2K22.
