Day 6 at the US Open was up and running. Headlining the action tonight was World No. 10, Garbiñe Muguruza. Playing in a much-awaited round 4 clash, she met Barbora Krejcikova. As the two against locked horns, fans were on the edge of their seats, gearing up for an enticing evening.

Both the WTA stars left no stone unturned in their round 4 clash. Even as fans expected a fierce outing, what came following surpassed their expectations. Down and out in the first set, the match looked far from Muguruza’s reach. However, she made a thrilling comeback in the second set from 4-0 to 5-4, a game away from resurrection. However, just then, a medical timeout of over 8 minutes from Barbora, broke the Spaniards’ momentum.

As she eventually bowed out of the tournament, clearly, she wasn’t happy. With a rather abrupt handshake at the net, Garbine’s upsetness was evident as she left the court.

Right before the game went into a tie-break in the second set, the Czech international took a break, citing breathing issues. As she returned after over 8 minutes, recovered, well, she seemed unstoppable. Over her comeback to the court, she won 7 points in a row, knocking out her Spanish opponent, canceling any chance of her comeback. As she left the court herself, Barbora Krejcikova was in tears, with the pain from her injury evidently on display.
The final scoreline read 6-3, 7-6.
