Big Brother star Becki Seddiki diagnosed with leukaemia

Big Brother star Becki Seddiki has been diagnosed with leukaemia.

The reality star, who appeared on the fifth series of the Channel 4 show in 2004, has been documenting her cancer journey on social media, after finding out about her illness through routine blood tests. 

Becki, who is believed to be 50 years old, explained on TikTok that she had gone for a check-up after fighting addiction to recreational drugs, which led her to attending Narcotics Anonymous.  

She said: ‘I just had some routine blood tests.

‘I told my GP I needed a clean bill of health because of self medicating on recreational drugs for so long and I realised I was an addict and went to some NA meetings and had been clean for 40 days.

‘And today I get this diagnosis. It explains a lot, it explains why I have been feeling tired, why my hair has been falling out. I am hopefully going to get better and I will keep a record of it.’

Becki began recording her journey on TikTok in August, posting videos from her hospital bed and sharing news about her chemo, injections and biopsies. 

After undergoing chemotherapy, Becki decided that she would shave her own head before it fell out itself, saying: ‘Diagnosis Leukaemia so my action was to shave my hair before I had no choice.’

In recent days, Becki posted videos of herself getting a bone marrow biopsy ahead of being let out of hospital for a stint just under two weeks.

She told her followers: ‘I think I’m going home today! Just a little biopsy which is a drill through my hip to get to the bone marrow and blood. Then remove this thing and then pick up lots of medications.

‘Then call an Uber and go home and put every bloody thing I wore in here in a washing machine. Then… who knows. Catch up on my box sets. Freedom!’

Becki had previously told her followers that she was part of a leukaemia trial. 

Leukaemia is cancer of the white blood cells, and is treated with chemotherapy and radiotherapy. 

Symptoms can include tiredness, breathlessness, unusual bruising or bleeding, and losing weight without trying to.

Becki was a late entry to the Big Brother house in 2004, entering the bungalow on day 31 before being evicted 12 days later. 

She memorably delivered a ‘Judas Kiss’ to housemate Michelle Bass, putting her up for the public vote automatically.

The series went on to be won by Nadia Almada. 

Following her appearance on the show, Becki was disowned by her family due to her wild antics on the show.

Her father Ahmed Seddiki, a devout Muslim, said at the time: ‘I don’t want to talk about her or to her ever again. She is not my daughter now. She is just too crazy.’

Following her reality TV stint, Becki worked as a radio presenter and as a singer/songwriter.
