Sarah Harding fans launch memorial fundraiser in honour of Girls Aloud star after death

Sarah Harding’s fans have found a fitting way to pay tribute to the star following her death from breast cancer aged 39.
Girls Aloud supporters have set up a memorial page to raise money for breast cancer research.
Following the news of the singer’s death, the @SarahAddicts fan page wrote: ‘Hi guys we’ve been in touch with Sarah’s management and they thought it’d be a lovely idea to set up a just giving memorial page for @TheChristieNHS in Sarah’s name.’
At the time of writing, the page has raised more than £1,600 from almost 100 people.
The Christie is planning research into preventing breast cancer among women aged 30 to 39 with no family history of the disease, and this will be partly funded by proceeds raised by Harding’s single, Wear It Like a Crown.
She released the track in March this year after rediscovering the recording from 10 years ago.

She decided to release it and donate the profits to the foundation where she was receiving treatment. The song went to number one on iTunes the same day.
The hospital said in a statement: ‘Sarah was extremely passionate about breast cancer research and spoke often of the importance of funding this.’

Harding’s mum confirmed the sad news of her daughter’s passing on Instagram on Sunday, writing on her page: ‘It’s with deep heartbreak that today I’m sharing the news that my beautiful daughter Sarah has sadly passed away.
‘Many of you will know of Sarah’s battle with cancer and that she fought so strongly from her diagnosis until her last day. She slipped away peacefully this morning.’

Marie thanked followers for their ‘kind support over the past year,’ saying: ‘It meant the world to Sarah and it gave her great strength and comfort to know she was loved.’
She also hoped the singer would be remembered for being ‘a bright shining star.’
