Paddy McGuinness teases return of Max And Paddy’s Road To Nowhere after 17 years away

Paddy McGuinness has hinted that Max And Paddy’s Road To Nowhere could be set to return 17 years after it first hit television screens.

The presenter, who starred in the hit comedy series alongside Peter Kay, revealed that two Christmas specials have already been written and are ready to go.

It comes just weeks after Peter teased a comeback during a stand-up show.

‘Peter did a live show a week or so back and he’s thrown it out there. But that’s what he does,’ Paddy said.

‘He makes an appearance once every three or four years, says we’re going to do some Max And Paddy, then no one sees him again. And then every interview I do it’s like, “When’s it back?”.’

He continued to The Sun: ‘I’m texting him like, “Why have you done that again?”. But if you look at what we’ve already written, you think, “That will go down really well”.’

Max And Paddy’s Road To Nowhere first aired in 2004 and followed the nightclub doormen as they toured around the UK in their prized campervan.

The duo was on the run from a club patron due to an incident in the last episodes of Phoenix Nights who threatened to have them killed by a hitman.

A second series of the show was initially planned for 2006, but Peter instead confirmed a third series of Phoenix Nights, however, this has not yet happened yet.

Peter and Paddy reprised their roles in a 2005 parody fitness DVD while they also starred in Phoenix Nights Live in Manchester in 2015 for Comic Relief.

Last month, Peter received a standing ovation as he made a long-anticipated return to the stage, after three years out of the public eye.

The comedian appeared at a charity gig at Manchester’s O2 Apollo, with a Q&A session in the afternoon and another one taking place in the evening.

Tickets sold out in less than half an hour, as many delightedly nabbed passes to the shows, which are being held to fundraise for student Laura Nuttall’s aggressive cancer treatment.
