Ravens Set To Add Ex Steelers RB Le’Veon Bell to Their Practice Squad

The Baltimore Ravens are reportedly set to sign former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell to bolster their practice squad. Bell is famously known for his exploits with the Steelers where he was one of their best players from 2013 – 2017.

The former Steelers RB’s best years with Steelers included him being named All-Pro four times. The Michigan State product also racked up 7,990 yards, 42 touchdowns and also made three Pro Bowls. After his stellar 5 year period with the Pittsburgh-based team, things went downhill for Bell as he got into a contract dispute with them in his sixth year. This resulted in him sitting out the 2018 season. He was then released by the Steelers and proceeded to have very forgettable stints with the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs.

Ravens in the market for RB’s

Having lost RBs J.K. Dobbins and Justice Hall to season-ending injuries, the Ravens are signing veteran RB Le’Veon Bell to their practice squad, per source. He soon is likely to be added to the 53-man roster when ready.

As reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Baltimore have been looking for running backs including Bell and Devonta Freeman. Long-term injuries to their starting running backs has forced this move per reports. Their starter J.K Dobbins went down with a torn ACL in the 3rd week of the preseason; while backup Justice Hill tore his Achilles

In this injury crisis, looking for the 29-year-old Bell wouldn’t be a bad move. While he may not be the versatile player of the past, he certainly has enough quality to act as short term solution. As per reports, once Bell gets fit, he will also be added to the roster. Only time can tell how he performs for the Ravens.
