It’s a great Wednesday for The Wanted fans.

The boyband have announced they are set to perform together for the first time in seven years, as well as releasing a greatest hits album.

Max George, Tom Parker, Nathan Sykes, Jay McGuiness and Siva Kaneswaran went on hiatus back in 2014 after releasing three albums and 13 singles, including the number ones All Time Low and Glad You Came.

They had planned to reunite in 2020 to celebrate their 10th anniversary, but while the plan was first hit by the pandemic, the group were devastated by the news that Tom had been diagnosed with a brain tumour.

The Wanted’s first gig in seven years, Inside My Head, will be staged at the Royal Albert Hall on September 20 in aid of Stand Up To Cancer.

Tom, 33, discovered during the filming of his Channel 4 documentary Inside My Head that just 1% of the National Cancer Research budget goes towards researching treatments for brain tumours, so decided to stage a concert to raise vital funds.

And of course, his bandmates were happy to help.

Jay, 31, said: ‘We have been talking off and on for a few years now about getting back together to do something for the anniversary but have all been working on other projects at different times so it didn’t happen.

‘This is all about having fun with our mates, no pressure, just fun.’

The boys confirmed the news in a hilarious video which poked fun at Tom’s journey, as all five lads reunited in a hospital with minor injuries.

Meanwhile, the band’s greatest hits album Most Wanted – The Greatest Hits, will be released on November 12.

Alongside hits like Glad You Came, Chasing The Sun and Walks Like Rihanna, the record will also include new music from the band.

Since The Wanted’s hiatus, all five stars have gone on to pursue solo projects.

Jay won the 13th series of Strictly Come Dancing, which led to him bagging a role in the West End show Rip It Up The 60s.

Max, 33, also competed on Strictly in 2020, starred on Glee in 2015, and joined Hits Radio as a presenter this year.

Tom toured with Grease as Danny Zuko and starred on shows including The Jump and Celebrity Masterchef, while Siva, 32, released solo music and penned the UK’s 2016 Eurovision entry, You’re Not Alone by Joe and Jake.

Meanwhile, Nathan, 28, embarked on a solo career, and supported Little Mix on tour.
