Gossip Girl renewed for season 2 on Netflix after record-breaking debut on HBO Max

Spotted: A second-season renewal for HBO Max’s Gossip Girl reboot.

Yep, the revival of the iconic teen drama will continue on after the season finale airs later this year.

The first six episodes of the continuation of hit The CW show first dropped in July and drew in record numbers for the WarnerMedia-owned streaming service.

So it’s not a complete surpirse that series will be back for more in 2022.

The reboot is set years after the OG crew ran the Upper East Side and follows a new set of scandalous private schoolers.

Jordan Alexander plays Julien Calloway, Zión Morena as Luna La and Savannah Smith plays Monet de Haan.

They star alongside Emily Alyn Lind as Audrey Hope, Thomas Doherty as Max Wolfe, Tavi Gevinson as Kate Keller, Eli Brown as Obie Bergmann IV, and Whitney Peak as Zoya Lott.

Featuring the original show’s narrator Kristen Bell returning as the voice of the titular character, the reboot was hailed by the steamer as its most-watched original series over the first weekend of availability.

It also saw record viewership over the first four days of availability. The first episode opened to viewers in 555,000 U.S. households, per Samba TV.

Gossip Girl continues on HBO Max in November, while the series is available to stream on BBC iPlayer in the UK.
