Has Tiger Woods Retired From Professional Golf?

Tiger Woods is the greatest golfer of all time. He has won 82 PGA Tour wins and 15 major championships in his career. Moreover, he not only won trophies but also made golf a popular sport around the world. Woods, almost singlehandedly is the reason for the change in perception around Golf. 

As Tiger started his journey at the professional stage, he attracted people from all over the world and made golf a global sport. However, it’s been a long time since Tiger Woods was seen on a golf course. So has Tiger retired from professional golf? 

Has Tiger Woods retired from professional golf?

Tiger Woods last played at the Masters in November 2020. And it’s been around ten months since he played any competitive golf. And a few fans have started to think that Tiger has retired from professional golf. 

But, the good news for fans is that Tiger Woods hasn’t retired. However, Tiger is currently recovering from a solo car crash that happened in February 2021. Meanwhile, Tiger has faced plenty of injuries and surgeries in his career. However, he still says this is the most painful rehab he has ever gone through.

According to the MD, chief medical officer at Harbour-UCLA Medical Center, Anish Mahajan, Woods suffered comminuted open fractures. The crash shattered and broke his tibia and fibula bones through the skin. Moreover, he even had smaller injuries to the ankle and foot.  

Hence, looking at the injuries, Tiger Woods might take another 8 to 10 months to return to professional golf. He needs to recover completely from the injuries before taking a golf club in his hand. 

In conclusion, Tiger Woods hasn’t retired from professional golf but is simply recovering from a horrific injury. And if all goes well, then 8 to 10 months from here on are good enough for Woods to start playing golf again.
