“The Way Red Bull Do Things Is Pretty Reckless” – George Russell Sheds Light on Mercedes’ Handling of Him

George Russell will race for Mercedes in the 2022 season alongside Lewis Hamilton. The Williams driver revealed he is excited to join the world champions from the next season. He also mentioned that he is very much grateful to the Geman team for giving him the opportunity in Formula One.

Russell is a Mercedes Academy Driver but made his debut in the sport with Williams in 2019. He impressed everyone in Mercedes and F1 with his progress and performance with the British team and deservedly got his chance in a Mercedes.

The young Brit thanks Mercedes for the opportunity to drive for them in 2022

As reported by ESPN, the British driver is grateful to Mercedes for nurturing him in his early years in the sport.

“I think I’ve been really happy with how Mercedes has given me this opportunity to go out there and learn,” Russell said.

While thanking the German team, George took a dig at Red Bull and their management of drivers.

“Obviously, the way Red Bull do things is pretty reckless and ruthless at times, and that’s why I’m so grateful that I have had this opportunity to go out there and learn, build and develop,” said George.

I feel in such a stronger place right now: George Russell

The Williams driver mentioned he feels he is more comfortable in the sport as compared to 2019. He also stated that he is mentally stronger and can cope with challenges pretty well in Formula One.

“I feel in such a stronger place right now that, even if I jump in and I’m a bit off the pace, I feel strong enough mentally to not let that affect me.” said Russell.

” I know I’ll get there. When I will get there, I don’t know yet, but I think I’m mature enough and old enough now to deal with that, whereas one or two years ago I probably wouldn’t have been,” said George on his progress in Formula One.

Russell is replacing Valtteri Bottas in Mercedes from 2022. The Finn will move to Alfa Romeo on a multi-year deal to fill the seat of retiring Kimi Raikkonen.
