Billy Horschel Chasing a Significant Arnold Palmer Record at the BMW PGA Championship 2021

The 2021 BMW PGA Championship is all set for an enthralling finish at the Wentworth Golf Club, Surrey. And after round three, Italian Francesco Laporta leads the event with a score of -14. Moreover, Laurie Canter is just a stroke behind the lead, while around four players are behind the lead by two strokes, including American Billy Horschel.

Meanwhile, Billy Horschel is the only American in the top 5. He is just two strokes behind the lead going into the final round. Moreover, with a win tomorrow at the Wentworth Golf Club, he could do something that no American golfer has ever done since 1975.

Billy Horschel currently shares third place with four players with a score of -12. And if he can get his hands on the trophy tomorrow, he has a chance to achieve an incredible feat. According to Justin Ray, Arnold Palmer is the only American player to win the BMW PGA Championship. He won the event in 1975 at the Royal St. George’s.

Since then, no American has ever managed to win this tournament which is a European Tour event. Moreover, Billy is in contention to lift the trophy one day after what would have been Arnold Palmer’s 92nd birthday. And by winning the event tomorrow, he could give a perfect tribute or gift to the legendary golfer.

Meanwhile, along with Billy Horschel, another American in contention is Sean Crocker. He is placed seventh on the leaderboard going into the final round with a score of -11. Sean is just three strokes behind the lead, making him the second American in the top 10. He made a leaderboard surge on a moving day as he carded 66 to finish solo seventh.

However, given the rhythm, experience, and overall game, Billy Horschel has a slight edge over Sean Crocker. But still, if anyone from these two players manages to win the trophy, then it will be a great tribute to the legendary golfer Arnold Palmer.
