Charles Leclerc Raises Health Concerns After Battling Through Monza F1 Qualifying

Charles Leclerc had a rocky Saturday afternoon in Monza. After complaining bout feeling unwell, Leclerc wrapped up his FP2 earlier than expected. It looks like the Monegasque hadn’t fully recovered for the sprint qualifying either.

Leclerc and Sainz will start the Italian GP in 5th and 6th, respectively. Having given the session his all, Canal + inquired Leclerc about his health. He replied, “The most important thing is that I’ve managed to do what I wanted to do in the car, so for that I’m happy. I just feel dizzy and have a headache. It’s not crazy symptoms.”

Dizziness was a symptom Hamilton endured after his race in Hungary. Leclerc tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this year; could the Ferrari driver be facing the same problem? No one knows for sure.

Charles Leclerc couldn’t expect better

After a great race in Zandvoort, Ferrari took the third place in the championship from McLaren. However, the weekend in Monza may not be the same for the Prancing Horses. McLaren has put forward their best result of the season and will start P2 and 3, much ahead of their rivals.

Regardless, Leclerc has faith in the Italian team. “Honestly P5 and P6 were the best we could do for tomorrow. The four cars in front are way quicker, but I’m still hopeful that if we can do a perfect race tomorrow, we will be able to put some pressure on the McLaren drivers. That is the objective. We will see.”

On the whole, Ferrari has had a troublesome time on their home circuit. Carlos Sainz had a disastrous crash during the second session, while Leclerc fell sick. Additionally, the pace just hasn’t been there for the team.

On a circuit where McLaren is thriving, Leclerc and Sainz would have to give more than 100% to challenge the Papaya team. The race is going to be a fascinating one. With McLaren starting ahead of the grid and Ferrari further behind, the midfield battle is anyone’s game.
