“100% Nonsense” – Aston Martin Boss Explains Sebastian Vettel’s F1 Contract Saga

Sebastian Vettel left Scuderia Ferrari to join the new/rebranded Aston martin this year. While many thought the German pen to paper a multi-year contract but it turns out to be a one-year deal with an option to extend his contract for another year.

What did Otmar Szafnauer say?

Otmar Szafnauer assures there is a cordial relationship between Sebastian Vettel and the team. In addition, the American reveals any rumour about the rift relationship are “100 percent nonsense”.

“We don’t have a Plan B. There are zero points of friction. Ask him yourself! I’m sure he will say that he loves this. It’s really just about clarifying a few details,” said Otmar, who wants to retain the 34-year-old driver for next season.

Furthermore, the Aston martin team principal reveals if they wanted to replace Vettel they would’ve spoken to other drivers.

“If we had the slightest doubt, we would have entered into such conversations. In July, when everyone was talking about whether to go to Williams or to Alfa. But we are not,” said Otmar. (Quotes translated via Google)
