“I Give Respect When It’s Due”: Zion Williamson Comments on LeBron James’ NBA 2k Rating

Ever since the NBA 2K22 ratings were announced, there has been talking all about it. But most of it around the fact that some NBA superstars have been rated lesser than they deserved. In fact, even Zion Williamson agreed to it, who himself has been rated below his expectations. Zion was on the cover of the game last year and he was obviously honored by it, but apart from his own rating, he wasn’t happy about the one LeBron James got either and justified why.

Why LeBron James deserves a better rating?

One of the best players in the league right now has collected more accolades in his NBA career than anybody can count. This is why he has been the cover boy for the NBA2k game more than any other player, that is 16 times. So, when someone as great as him gets a 96 overall rating, it has to be disappointing. So, New Orleans Pelicans‘ Zion Williamson felt the same way.

Bron, Stephen Curry, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Kevin Durant all sharing the highest rating of 96. But when Zion made his appearance on Bleacher Report’s ‘Just Playin’ by Tylor Rooks, he was asked to rank them as per his opinion. Of course, he gave Kevin Durant a 99, something Durant believed he deserved as well. However, Zion gave LeBron a 99 as well.

He explained, “Off of respect and what he’s done for the game, I’ll give LeBron a 99. What he’s done for the game, nobody else has done.” This sounds about right, considering nobody could digest the ratings that were given this time.

King James advocated for his rivals

Say what you will about LeBron, the man has some unique sportsmanship in him. Instead of speaking out about his poor rating, he was quick to stand by his rivals, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, who got lesser ratings as well. When the ratings were made public, he wrote, “Nah should be 99.”

The last time LeBron was rated as low as 96 was in 2010 and then 2017. But other than that, it has always been more. However, fans might be rooting for this to change considering the high chances to win a title the Lakers are displaying. They have formed a super team of their own and even at this age, Bron is playing like he is at his peak. It is only uphill from here.
