US Open 2021: Winners and Runners Up To Take Prize Money Cuts

It’s the day for the men’s final at the US Open 2021 and we have World No. 1 Novak Djokovic taking on the second-best player in the World, Daniil Medvedev. It is a repeat of the Australian Open final which was played earlier this season.

Since it has come down to two players from the 128 who made it to the main draw, it’ll be interesting to see who wins the tournament. As we speak about the winner and the runner-up, let us take a look at how much prize money Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev could pocket after this match in the US Open 2021.

Prize money cuts at the US Open 2021

The winner of the tournament will receive $2.5 million and the runner-up will receive $1.25 million. During the 2019 edition, the prize money was higher than what it was during the 2020 and 2021 seasons, due to the global pandemic. The prize money for the men’s and women’s is the same.

Yesterday, British young star Emma Raducanu took home a cheque of $2.5 million, and her opponent, Canadian teenager Leylah Fernandez pocketed $1.25 million.

Reflecting back on the match tonight, Djokovic is on a mission who wants to win the fourth Major of the season. In doing so, he would’ve done an impassive task of winning all four Majors in a season. On the other hand, Medvedev is in his third Grand Slam final.

He fell short to Nadal in 2018, although they were involved in an epic thriller. Earlier this season, Djokovic beat Daniil in straight sets. However, the Russian knows what to expect when he faces the Serb tonight. He has been in supreme form lately and both players will definitely try and make matters difficult for one and another. We wish them the best of luck.
