“Finished Where We Deserved” – Kyle Larson Reflects on His Race at Richmond

At the Richmond Raceway, Kyle Larson finished in sixth place. It was not a win, but it was enough to see him through to the next round of the Playoffs. Admittedly, he was a little bit disappointed to not finish higher, but he is relieved that he does not have to worry about the next race at Bristol.

He said, “Yeah, it’s a lot better than we were here at Richmond earlier in the year. At the beginning of the race, I thought I was going to have a really good shot to win, but we kind of lost the balance there and got it back a little bit there at the end.

“So, we probably finished where we deserved. The No. 18 kind of had his problems, so maybe we finished one spot better. Not a bad day. To go to Bristol and know that we’re locked in is nice. We’ll try to be aggressive and get a win this week.”

Kyle Larson will put his head down and focus on the coming races

The Hendrick Motorsports driver is one of three drivers who have booked their Playoff berths. He is also the only one who did it without winning. The other two drivers are Joe Gibbs Racing duo, Martin Truex Jr and Denny Hamlin. The latter drew first blood when he won the first Playoff race at the Darlington Raceway.

Earlier this weekend, Truex Jr also joined him when he won the race at the Richmond Raceway. Now, the paddock heads to the Bristol Motor Speedway for the final race in the opening Playoff round. Once this race concludes, the final nine drivers will be confirmed for the next Playoff round. From there, the field will be whittled down until the Championship 4 duke it out in the season finale later on this year.
