Married At First Sight UK: Amy and Josh ‘hid chocolate bars in the sofa’ during tense commitment ceremony

Married At First Sight UK star Amy Christophers has revealed how she and her partner Josh Christie stayed energised during the first tense commitment ceremony of the series, as they sneakily hid chocolate bars in the sofa.

During the most recent episode of the E4 reality show, the newly-married couples were put to the test in their first commitment ceremony, with each revealing whether or not they wanted to stay in the process or not.

The session ended up being extremely eventful, marking the departures of Nikita Jasmine, Anthony Poole, Jordon Mundell and Alexis Economou.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, sports journalist Amy, who is a presenter for Racing TV’s #Raceday, said she was ‘just gobsmacked’ watching the drama unfold, as Jordon revealed – much to everyone’s astonishment – that he and Megan Wolfe shared a kiss behind their respective partners’ backs.

Amy recalled how it was ‘such a long day of filming’ the commitment ceremony, as it ended up lasting longer than it was ‘supposed to’.

‘When you’re sat there with the experts, it’s like a good 15 minutes, sometimes it’s half an hour. Up to half an hour that you’re sat there debriefing the relationship,’ she outlined.

However, she and Josh had a handy trick for keeping their energy levels up during the tiring take.

‘Me and Josh hid chocolate bars in the sofa, eating our chocolate when the cameras weren’t on us,’ she said, laughing as she recollected how hungry they were at the time.

It appears their trick might not have kept Josh as energised as they had planned – as he ended up falling asleep at one point, Amy said.

Thankfully, she was able to wake him up and his snooze didn’t make the final cut of the show.

While the MAFS UK participants are ‘like a close family’, Amy admitted that she didn’t particularly like Jordon when they met at the dinner party.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Amy said: ‘In the first dinner party, if you lipread, you can see that I say to Alexis, “I don’t like him. I get a bad vibe from him”,’ Amy said.

‘I just didn’t like Jordon from the off, I just knew that there was something about him that was off.’

Tonight’s episode of MAFS UK is set to serve up a whole lot of drama, as tension brews between Amy and Josh, Marilyse Corrigan and Franky Spencer and Morag Crichton and Luke Dawson.

Will any of the couples call time on their relationships? Or will they try to ensure their expertly-matched pairings go the distance?
