Noel Gallagher is parking the booze for three months after indulging in local cider during lockdown.

The former Oasis star said he ‘got right into’ drinking while at home in Hampshire as he was unable to go to the pub.

It comes after he previously revealed he would attempt to go sober from September 12 as he had parties and events up until September 11.

He told Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2: ‘I never used to drink at home as rule, ever. If I wanted a drink, I would go out to the pub and have a drink.

‘I started drinking at home during lockdown and got right into it. It was just red wine and cider, not in the same glass. I drank a lot of red wine.

‘Because I live out in Hampshire, the local cider is pretty spectacular.’

Noel said the ‘good thing’ about the beverage is ‘you can’t have that much of it or you lose the use of your legs.’

The rocker revealed he wrote some of his best work for High Flying Birds while ‘slightly sozzled’.

He first detailed his temporary booze ban on the podcast Funny How?, declaring he was ‘going on the wagon’ after going wild in Ibiza.

‘I think it’s going to be like the 12th of September, because I’ve got parties to attend to and the last one is on the 11th,’ he said.

‘And then I’m going to go on the wagon for 12 weeks I think. I’ve been f**king smashing the a**e out of it in Ibiza.

‘I’m going to do three months which takes me up to the middle of December and then I can get in training for Christmas.’
