Stephen Shaw Calls Out Tyson Fury’s Brother Hughie Fury

28-year-old heavyweight contender and Deontay Wilder’s sparring partner Stephen Shaw has called out Hughie Fury.  In addition to calling out Tyson Fury’s 26-year-old cousin brother, Shaw also pointed out that at this point in his pro boxing career, he would also be open to facing the likes of Lucas Browne and David Price.

Stephen Shaw kicked off his professional boxing career in 2013. Over the past eight years, he has fought 16 times. Out of his 16 professional bouts, he has won 15 (11 KOs) and has incurred no losses yet.

On the other hand, 26-year -old Hughie Fury also started off as a pro boxer in 2013. However, unlike Shaw, he has had a total of 28 bouts. He has won 25 fights and has suffered 3 losses against big names in the heavyweight division- Joseph Parker, Kubrat Pulev, and Alexander Povetkin.

Hughie Fury, Tyson Fury, what is it, cousin?

I would love a fight with Hughie Fury. That would be a great fight I feel. Right now in my career, Lucas Browne, guys like that, you know, David Price. Those kinds of fights are perfect for me, being 15-0 with 11 KOs, 28, 29 years old,” said Stephen Shaw.

Stephen Shaw was born into boxing

Heavyweight contender Stephen Shaw was born into boxing royalty. His father Brian was a big name in the sport and his grandfather Winston ‘Buddy’ Shaw is a well-known trainer with years of experience. His grandfather even helped train former unified welterweight champion, Cory Spinks. This left a lasting impact on Shaw’s aspirations to become a boxer.

That was really one of the reasons why I got into boxing. I remember at one point in time Cory Spinks was living with my grandfather.

That kind of stuff motivated me to really do what I’m doing now,” said Shaw.

Stephen Shaw is also a sparring partner to some of the biggest names in the heavyweight division- Andy Ruiz Jr., Charles Martin, and Deontay Wilder. In the past, Shaw has talked about how sparring Deontay Wilder has helped him build confidence. He believes he now understands what it takes to go toe-to-toe with a real former heavyweight world champion.

It definitely helped my confidence knowing that I can contend with arguably the best puncher of this era, it definitely let me know where I was at in my career, and it helped me measure myself up against the former champion in Deontay. It just helped me understand what it was to be a champion,” said Stephen Shaw.
