Dan Hooker’s Opponent Nasrat Haqparast Suffers Personal Tragedy- Will Fight at UFC 266 Regardless

Dan Hooker’s next opponent for his lightweight bout at UFC 266 suffered a personal tragedy. This hasn’t derailed his upcoming bout at UFC 266 as Nasrat Haqparast will enter the octagon at UFC 266 to face the #8 ranked lightweight on September 25.

This fight is scheduled for the prelims on the card which will be headlined by the featherweight title bout between Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega.

ESPN journalist Brett Okamoto posted the news on Twitter. He said, “My condolences to UFC lightweight Nasrat Haqparast (@Nasrat_mma), who revealed his mother passed away last weekend. Nasrat is scheduled to face Dan Hooker in just two weeks at UFC 266. He intends to still fight, per his manager Ali Abdelaziz (@AliAbdelaziz00).

Despite losing his mother, Haqparast is not backing from the fight. He will enter the octagon at UFC 266. However, it won’t be easy for him to cope up with the loss mentally. Haqparast took to social media to share his grief over this sad incident.

Nasrat Haqparast Posts Heartfelt Note on Instagram

The UFC lightweight fighter, Nasrat Haqparast, announced the sad news of his mother’s demise just a few weeks before his big fight. He took to his official Instagram to share the heartbreaking news by posting a photo of him kissing his mother’s hand.

Haqparast wrote, “My best friend in this world. People who know me, knew that my life’s goal was to please God and my parents. Everything I did was to make you proud and give you happiness.”

He added, “The last 2 years were the hardest of our life and in every prayer I asked Allah with tears in my eyes to give you health. Until the end your words were ‘Trust in God’. With the hardest chemotherapy you still finished 2 whole Ramadan, never missed a prayer, and even complete the ‘Hadjj’ with this disease. Your place is Jannah and I hope you were pleased with me, my diamond.”

Haqparast will face Dan Hooker next and will look to secure a win in this fight. A victory over Hooker will surely cement Haqparast’s position in the lightweight roster.
