“He’s Gotta Do a Bit More Before Talking”- Frank Warren Slams David Haye for Calling Out Tyson Fury

Having beaten Joe Fournier via decision this past week, ‘Hayemaker’ has claimed himself to be the “kryptonite” for ‘The Gypsy King’. Hence, David Haye wants to have a shot at Tyson Fury. There’s no denying Haye vs Fury can be a massive fight at the Box Office, but does it really make sense at this point?

Maybe yes, but not everyone is impressed with David Haye’s recent callout, including Queensberry promoter Frank Warren. Even if the 69-year-old wants to see the matchup happen, he believes David Haye hasn’t done enough to challenge Tyson Fury.

In a chat with IFL TV, Frank Warren said, “I’m sure he’s calling out Tyson because him and Tyson – let’s get it right – would be a huge fight. There’s no doubt about that. But I think he’s gotta do a bit more before talking about Tyson. He’d have to get rated.”

40-year-old David Haye clearly doesn’t have the credentials to opt for a title shot right away. The current heavyweight division reflects an alluring roster with several contenders aiming for the gold. So, in no way they will leave the path clear for ‘Hayemaker’. Furthermore, going full-time in the sport again can be a bad decision.

As of now, Tyson Fury will defend his WBC heavyweight title against Deontay Wilder on October 9. Considering that, he isn’t eyeing Haye as his potential opponent, especially with a unification fight knocking at the doors. It leaves Haye with very few options available, and going back to retirement can be the most viable one.

David Haye vs Tyson Fury – An all English Clash

Haye and Fury were rumored to collide in 2013, back when both men were in their prime. Unfortunately, the matchup never happened and remained a fantasy fight for several fans. Almost eight years later, there’s a chance of turning it into reality. However, Haye is nowhere near his prime form and Tyson Fury has evolved to be one of the greatest heavyweights of the era.

Thus, putting them opposite each there will be a sheer mismatch at this point. It will also be un-justifying for several other boxers who have rightly desired to battle Tyson Fury for the WBC world title. Hence, Haye’s chances appear bleak unless he remains active with a handful of more fights before going for the gold.
