Simon Cowell’s known for being a tough man to impress, but Maya Jama seems to have done so with ease as she is set to host his new talent show.

The 27-year-old star, who has been dubbed as telly’s most in-demand presenter, will be doing what she does best in the upcoming ITV competition Walk The Line.

A representative for Maya confirmed to Metro.co.uk that she is indeed taking on the role after it was initially reported by The Sun that she was in the pipeline.

She said: ‘If someone said to me, describe your dream job. It would be this! I literally couldn’t be more excited to be working with Syco, Lifted Entertainment and the incredible team at ITV on Walk The Line.’

Walk The Line will see a variety of musical acts, solo artists, choirs and bands compete to win the £500,000 grand prize, but there’s a catch: the longer an act stays on, the bigger their prize pot will be as they will then have to compete against a fresh set of musicians, but the two acts judged the best each week have to decide if they want to take some money and leave the competition or walk the line to move on to the next stage.

Simon’s latest project was confirmed days after the music mogul decided to call time on The X Factor after 17 years.

With the show acting as the launching pad for some of the biggest names in music such as One Direction, Little Mix and Olly Murs, we can’t wait to see who the next global superstar in the making will be.

The programme is due to be filmed in the autumn.

‘Maya is undoubtedly one of the most exciting new faces on British television right now,’ a source told The Sun’s newspaper’s TV Biz column.

‘Everybody is chuffed to have her on board to present Walk The Line.’

The former Radio One DJ has certainly come a long way from her presenting gig on Rinse FM’s drivetime show to co-hosting alongside retired football star Peter Crouch as well as being a longstanding ambassador for Adidas.

The insider added: ‘It’s a new format so it’s a perfect hire, as Maya brings something fresh and exciting. It really seems like the perfect fit.’
