Queer Eye has got its own official Lego set and it’s looking fabulous

Makeovers are easy when they involve Lego bricks (pic: Lego)

The Fab 5 Loft has been turned into a Lego set featuring all five stars and a transformation chamber to perform your own makeovers.

Lego has made a real effort to embrace LGBTQ fans this year, first with the Everyone is Awesome set for Pride Month and now they’ve produced a set based on the award-winning Queer Eye.

It’s based on the apartment set they used in the first and second series of the original show, and features minifigures of Bobby Berk, Tan France, Antoni Porowski, Karamo Brown, and Jonathan Van Ness – plus Bruley the French Bulldog.

Tan’s hair was apparently the biggest challenge in creating authentic looking minifigures and required the creation of a brand new Lego wig.

The set features details such as the ‘Style, Taste, Class’ sign and the ‘Yaaas Queen’ print in the kitchen, as well as an extra minifigure of Kathi Dooley – Jonathan’s high school teacher, who became one of the most memorable makeovers on the show.

She’s used to demonstrate the set’s main action gimmick: a transformation chamber that switches Kathi (or anyone else you put in it) between before and after minifigures.

The set has been designed with help from show creators Scout Productions, with Bobby Berk claiming that Lego had a big influence on him as a kid.

‘Lego bricks played such an important part in my childhood. Clicking those little bricks together really sparked my imagination and creativity. Collaborating with the Lego team was an absolute dream come true! It would be any kid’s dream and now it’s my reality,’ he said.

The Queer Eye – The Fab 5 Loft set is numbered 10291 and is made up of 974 pieces. It’s 35cm wide, 9cm high, and 21cm deep and costs £89.99. It will be available from Lego stores and Lego.com from October 1.
