Ruth Langsford has been supported by her colleagues and loved ones after revealing that her mum Joan recently suffered a fall and has been left ‘battered and bruised’.

This Morning host Ruth, 61, has spoken at length about her close bond with her mum Joan and the struggle she’s faced trying to see her amid the pandemic as she currently lives in a care home.

But with the pair now firmly reunited, Ruth took to social media over the weekend to explain Joan had been left injured by the fall.

She said: ‘Sadly no Mum for Sunday lunch today… she’s had a fall.

‘Nothing broken thank goodness but quite battered & bruised poor love.

‘She needs a walking frame to get around at the moment and is still in some pain but typical Mum…stoic and cheerful as ever.’

Ruth’s dog Maggie was providing all the comfort needed to cheer up Joan in a sweet clip she shared alongside the update.

Ruth added: ‘Maggie giving her some healing love.’

Her husband Eamonn Holmes wrote underneath the post: ‘The Power of Healing in action through a Dog’s unconditional and total Love.

‘Maggie knows that something is wrong with Mrs L.’

She was soon flooded with support from friends and followers including This Morning’s Sarah Jossel, who commented: ‘Sending so much love.’

Loose Women’s Judi Love added: ‘Oh babes thinking of you all and hoping for a speedy recovery xx.’

‘Hope she recovered well soon, lovely to have a Maggie (and Ruth!) visit,’ shared This Morning’s star of the kitchen, Juliet Sear.

Susanna Reid also gave her love to Ruth by leaving a love heart emoji below the post.

Ruth often shares an update on Sundays as they prepare a roast dinner together.

The host has been delighted to be back with her mum after they were separated for months on end over the Covid pandemic.

Ruth and Joan were reunited back in March after their only in person contact has been through the window of her care home.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
