Today is your last chance ever to buy Forza Motorsport 7 digitally

Microsoft is delisting Forza Motorsport 7 on Wednesday, so if you want to buy the game digitally you’ve only got a few hours left.

As digital downloads become the preferred way for most people to buy games, and more and more titles rely on online services to run, many gamers are getting increasingly worried about game preservation.

That’s despite the fact that the most common reason for a game to disappear from online stores is because of licences running out, which is why things like Activision’s Marvel and Transformers are now impossible to buy digitally. And it’s the licensed cars and tracks in Forza Motorsport 7 that are the problem here.

Forza Motorsport 7 will be delisted on Wednesday, September 15, as it’s removed from online stores and no new physical copies are printed. So the only way you’ll be able to buy it in the future is if you can find an old boxed copy.

The upside is that the online services will still work, so if you have the game already nothing will change and you’ll still be able to play it as normal.

Importantly, you’ll also be able to redownload it if you delete it from your hard drive, even though it’s not on the Xbox store anymore.

To encourage as many people as possible to pick up the game before it’s gone the standard edition has been reduced to £7.49 and the Ultimate Edition to £17.49.

Although Forza Horizon 5 is due out this autumn the Motorsport franchise has always been a much more serious racer, akin to the PlayStation’s Gran Turismo.

A new game, called simply Forza Motorsport, was announced at the same time as the Xbox Series X but it has barely been heard from again, with rumours suggesting it had originally been designed as a free-to-play game but that that may no longer be the case.

The recent Nvidia mega leak contains references to both Forza Motorsport 8 and Project Woodstock, which is also believed to be a Forza game, but there’s no indication of any release date.
