On September 25, Oleksandr Usyk will enter the squared circle for the biggest fight of his career. He will touch gloves with Anthony Joshua in a gigantic title fight and will look to pull off an upset. Many boxing pundits and fans feel Joshua can get past Usyk hassle-free, but the WBC heavyweight champ, Tyson Fury, feels the Ukrainian boxer is capable of much more than he’s letting on.
Recently, Fury spoke to Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions about Usyk. He said, “Maybe he’s not showing us everything that he can do. Maybe he’s just playing around with the likes of Chisora and the other guy he fought.”
“Maybe he was looking bad on purpose. So he could get that big payday and then do his good boxing on that night, which has been done before by a lot of fighters, have looked terrible in fights to get other big fights and then rose to the occasion and won those big fights. So I’ve got a sneaky feeling that Usyk’s better than he looks.”
Usyk is a former cruiserweight champ, and he doesn’t really boast a solid resume in the heavyweight circuit. However, the Ukrainian boxing star is undefeated and is capable of giving his ultimate best.
That said, Usyk is undoubtedly a threat to Joshua as he can keep the same pace throughout those 12-rounds. Despite that, ‘AJ’, as the defending champion and proven heavyweight, will be an undeniable favorite moving into this fight.
Can Oleksandr Usyk really hammer Anthony Joshua?
The entire boxing fraternity is a fan of Joshua‘s cosmic power and his lucrative in-ring conduct. Also, he has simultaneously worked on his movements to get better.
Looking at that, hammering someone as huge as Joshua won’t be easy for Usyk by any means. However, if he produces something special on fight night, then no one can take away his win.
This fight at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will be attractive and it will be exciting to see who gets his hand raised. Will Tyson Fury’s words ring true on September 25?
